Hollywood DMV (Cole Ave.): Licensing, REAL ID & Drive Tests

The Hollywood DMV at 803 Cole Ave. is a licensing and testing office. It handles driver’s licenses, ID cards, REAL ID, knowledge tests and behind-the-wheel and motorcycle tests, and it’s on the DMV’s list of offices that help with mobile driver’s licenses in person, but it doesn’t handle titles, registration or other vehicle work; the West Hollywood office, about a mile west, does. Hollywood is open weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (9:00 a.m. on Wednesdays).

Before You Go

Start any license or REAL ID application online and bring the original documents; the DMV’s REAL ID checklist lists what’s accepted, and our California DMV appointment guide covers booking, drive tests and what to bring. License renewals happen here only if your notice says to come in, and replacement licenses and records are online. Vehicle work goes to West Hollywood or a full-service office (see our guide to registering a car in California), and commercial skills tests are given at Arleta or the Gardena commercial drive test center. The office takes cash, checks, money orders, cards and digital wallets (with a 2.1% fee on cards and wallets) and closes on Veterans Day (Nov. 11), Thanksgiving (Nov. 26–27), Christmas (Dec. 25) and New Year’s Day (Jan. 1, 2027).
