Sacramento CA DMV Offices: 2 Locations, Hours & Services

There are two Sacramento CA DMV offices for the public, about 5 miles apart: the one the DMV calls simply Sacramento, at 4700 Broadway, and Sacramento South, at 7775 La Mancha Way. Both handle driver’s licenses, ID cards, REAL ID, knowledge and drive tests, titles and registration, and both have self-service kiosks, but only Sacramento South helps with mobile driver’s licenses in person. They keep the same weekday hours, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. with a 9:00 a.m. start on Wednesdays, and neither opens on weekends.

Sacramento South is the only one of these offices on the DMV’s list of offices that help in person, and the West Sacramento center, about 5.5 miles from Broadway, is the closest CDL test site. When you book, pick the office by name, since the DMV lists the Broadway office simply as “Sacramento.” The Sacramento-Florin IBC on Florin Mall Drive also has a Sacramento address, but Industry Business Centers serve auto dealerships, vehicle registration businesses and trucking companies and don’t offer regular field office services.

Before You Go

Appointments are optional except for drive tests, and the DMV’s wait times page shows the current waits at both offices, so compare them before you choose. Start any license or REAL ID application online and bring the originals; the DMV’s REAL ID checklist lists accepted documents, and our California DMV appointment guide covers booking, drive tests and what to bring. For vehicle paperwork, see our guide to registering a car in California; use tax is 8.75% in Sacramento and Elk Grove and 7.75% in unincorporated Sacramento County as of October 2026. Both offices take cash, checks, money orders, cards and digital wallets (with a 2.1% fee on cards and wallets) and close on Veterans Day (Nov. 11), Thanksgiving (Nov. 26–27), Christmas (Dec. 25) and New Year’s Day (Jan. 1, 2027). Our California DMV offices list covers the rest of the Sacramento region and the state.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many DMV offices are in Sacramento?

Two field offices: the one the DMV calls Sacramento, at 4700 Broadway, and Sacramento South, at 7775 La Mancha Way, about 5 miles apart. Both have kiosks and give drive tests; only Sacramento South helps with mobile driver’s licenses in person. The Sacramento-Florin IBC isn’t a regular field office.

Is any Sacramento DMV office open on Saturday?

No. Both are open weekdays only, but the Safeway kiosk at 1814 19th St. is open 24 hours, other grocery store kiosks are open every day, and two DMV business partners near Sacramento South are open Saturdays.

Conclusion

Sacramento’s two DMV offices offer the same core services, but only Sacramento South helps with mobile driver’s licenses in person. Use Broadway for downtown, Oak Park, East Sacramento, Curtis Park and Natomas and Sacramento South for Florin, Parkway and Elk Grove, compare live waits before you go, book ahead for a drive test, and go to the West Sacramento center for a CDL skills test.
