REAL ID Appointments at the Medford MVC

Medford was one of four vehicle centers, with South Brunswick, Springfield and Trenton, where the MVC added REAL ID appointments in spring 2026; three more followed in August. You can book either type:

Appointment typeWho it’s for
REAL IDPeople whose license or ID isn’t due for renewal within the next three months
Renewal: license or non-driver IDPeople whose license or ID expires within three months; you renew and upgrade to REAL ID in one visit

Bring identity documents worth six points, two proofs of your address and proof of your Social Security number. A REAL ID costs $35, compared with $24 for a standard license, and your card is mailed to you in two to four weeks.

Do You Need an Appointment at the Medford MVC?

Yes. Titles, registrations, plate transactions, registration renewals that can’t be done online and REAL ID are all handled by appointment at Medford. Only a few quick services take walk-ins.

How to Book an Appointment

  1. Open the MVC’s appointment scheduler and choose your appointment type, such as New title or registration, Registration renewal or REAL ID.
  2. Pick Medford from the list of locations, then choose an open date and time.
  3. Enter your contact details and keep the confirmation email. Each person needs their own appointment.

Walk-In Services

You can walk in without an appointment for disability placards, plate returns and 5-year driver abstracts. Most MVC agencies also have a drop box for returning plates.

Registering a Vehicle at the Medford MVC

Book a “New title or registration” appointment and bring the title, your ID, proof of New Jersey insurance and a completed Form BA-49, plus Form OS/SS-UTA for an out-of-state title. Plan on $60 for the title ($85 with a lien), $46.50 to $84 a year to register most passenger cars and 6.625% sales tax on a purchase. Private-sale buyers have 10 working days to transfer the title before a $25 penalty applies. Our guide on how to register a car in New Jersey has the full checklist.

Vehicles registered from out of state must be inspected within 14 days. The closest state stations are the Southampton inspection station on Route 38 and the Cherry Hill inspection station at 617 Hampton Road; neither needs an appointment.

Licenses, Permits and Road Tests Near Medford

For a first license or permit, a knowledge test, an out-of-state transfer or a name change, book an appointment at a licensing center. The closest are the Runnemede MVC on East Clements Bridge Road, which also handles vehicle business, and the Delanco MVC at 400 Creek Road, a road test site as well. Road tests are also given at the Cherry Hill site on Hampton Road. Our NJ MVC appointment guide explains which appointment type to book.
